Frédéric MICALLEF

A computer enthusiast since a young age, Frédéric Micallef developed his knowledge early on, unconventionally and on his own. After having pursued a brief post-secondary training in chemistry, he came back to his first love, programming.

His career path has allowed him, in addition to performing specific network installations and intranet/extranet development (namely for the company Franche Connexion in Marseille), to develop several programmes and applications entirely by himself or as part of a joint effort with his colleague Peter Longstrand. His web applications and search engines freely distributed on the Internet, include SmartBud, ADOME, Search’IT, and Raptor.

Motivated by the pleasure of sharing his knowledge, he has also participated as a speaker in several training courses for professionals (on Perl 5 programming for the web, DBMS interfacing, and even system administration, given especially to developers from the Institut Laue-Langevin), and has written several articles for Planète Linux on Perl/Tk and FreeBSD.

Since February 2000, he has been at the healm of the Localisation department of the French branch of Atom e-City Ltd., and has developed a comprehensive management and project archiving solution for them, TPBox™.
